Quite frankly, it's been difficult to think about blogging for the last week or so. We are not personal friends with the Chapman family. However, I have come to know Emily (the oldest daughter) quite well. She is an outstanding young lady. We have found ourselves at several conferences together. I have also been to their offices in TN for a meeting where I met with Kathy (who is a long time worker at Shaohannah's Hope) and Emily. Wendy Cosby has also become a good friend who works with SH and is very close to the family.
With that said - this tragedy has still hit our family hard. It is almost like a "fraternity" when you adopt a child from a foreign country. If you were to put a group of adoptive parents in a room that had adopted from different countries, within minutes they would group themselves into circles according to the country of origin of their children. All of this has made us reevaluate a lot of things in our lives. Personally, we are hoping to slow down this summer and take the time to make some good memories.
SCC's latest album featured the song Cinderella. He wrote the song after giving baths to two of the youngest girls. He was getting frustrated with them because they were not cooperating. Ever been "there"? We certainly have. The inspiration behind the song is a challenge for us as parents to slow down and enjoy our children because they grow up so fast. As a matter of fact, the last words of the song are "then she'll be gone." Wow...

Thanks Johnny for the reminder-I needed that tonight as I just got the children tucked in and it had been one of those days. Blessings on you and your family tonight!
